About me

muhammad irawan

Mechanical Engineer with 7 years professional experience.

I’m not just an engineer by profession — engineering is how I see the world.

Every challenge feels like an equation: balancing constraints, resources, and creativity to find the most effective solution. Whether it’s a machine, a process, or a complex system, I’m driven to understand how things truly work and how they can be improved.

That mindset didn’t start in a classroom.

As a kid, curiosity was my default setting. I built wooden boats from scrap, modified bicycles, crafted bamboo fishing rods, and experimented with anything I could get my hands on. I wasn’t chasing grades — I was chasing understanding. That curiosity eventually shaped the path I took: becoming an engineer who doesn’t just accept problems, but enjoys breaking them down and solving them.

I later earned my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Politeknik Negeri Batam and a Bachelor’s degree from Universitas Batam, turning that curiosity into structured engineering practice.

Professionally, I’ve worked across oil & gas, electronics, and manufacturing industries, contributing to projects that combine engineering analysis, manufacturing systems, and practical problem solving. My work has included:

• Supporting multi-million-dollar plant upgrades that improved safety, efficiency, and operational performance
• Designing and validating equipment using CAD/CAE tools, FEA, and engineering simulations
• Building engineering prototypes, including a 6-DOF robotic manipulator using 3D-printed components, Arduino-based control, and kinematic modeling

But technical skills alone aren’t what define an engineer.

What matters more is mindset — the ability to stay curious, think from first principles, and continuously improve systems that others may overlook.

Where some people see complexity, I see systems.
Where others see constraints, I see design parameters.
Where others see limitations, I see opportunities to improve.

Because for me, engineering isn’t just something I do.

It’s how I think.
